You can have Ngiu Chap served with Meehoon (thin rice noodle soup), Mee (fat yellow noodle soup), Konlou Mee (dry yellow noodle style), rice, soup-only, etc. If you like specific beef part, you can order a whole bowl for your full enjoyment. Just click the picture above for detail. To 1st-timer who is not used to organs, beef balls and stew meat would be your safe choices.
(Note: prices as of Nov 2012, USD1≈MYR3)

Ngiu Chap
I ordered the standard Ngiu Chap rice noodle soup, which consists of stew meat, fresh meat, beef ball and tripe.

close-up of Ngiu Chap noodle
The Ngiu Chap of Kah Hiong is considered as West Malaysia style, as they add white radish, which enhances the meaty sweet taste of beef. I like it.

Beef noodle
The beef is fresh and springy, very well-marinated as well.

Ngau Chap of Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap restaurant
Overall, the Ngiu Chap is really good. I’m only a bit disappointed that beef tendon is not in standard serving (you need to pay extra to have tendon, spleen, tongue and intestine).

food menu of Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap
For normal serving, Ngiu Chap noodle soup costs MYR8.00 (≈USD2.25), MYR8.50 (≈USD2.35) if KonLau style (dry noodle). (Prices as of Feb 2015)

chili paste
Oh, BTW, another “secret weapon” of Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap is their super hot chili paste. Dip your beef into it (a bit only, you have been warned) for extra kick. Somehow strong chili goes very well with Ngiu Chap.

chili sauce of Kah Hiong Ngiu Chap
Their chili paste is made of very spicy small chili called “Cili Padi” (a.k.a. Bird’s eye chili or Thai chili). You can buy a bottle of their famous chili paste for MYR10 (≈USD3.33).

  5. Happy Birthday, mysabah….

If you really think that you are putting too much time on the blog, I would advise you to reduce the update frequency. Try once week or two. Posting less every month does not mean that you are not doing the best. You still are but no longer taking it as a burden…

But then again, if you really want to stop, I, at least, would respect your decision.

I would still like to thank you for giving me and many others that are somehow connected to sabah, a commonplace to get together. Even though I may not be real sabahan (Selagorian), sabah had influence me in more than one way and to be able to connect to sabah again (now working in shah alam) through mysabah is really something. I would cherish the time I spend here alot…

Thank you again, mysabah and Happy Birthday…

  8. Yo dude, thanks for all the efforts on this blog thru out the year. It’s not easy being a blogger like you, great pictures and fantastic articles of Sabah that have bring back alot of my memorys and made me want to go back after reading every entries you have. When ever I miss home I’ll just pop by here and .. read, look at the pictures. Hhmm….

Hope you can stay abit longer with us. But if there’s something more important, go ahead, and all the best to you~

  9. NOooooooooooooooooo.. please continue with your updates! If it takes too much of your time, reduce your updates to maybe once a week..?

  10. SmokeHead, I still hope you’d consider your reader’s comments on this eg, keep it up, but with less frequency.

And I think you’re filling a gap in the local tourism industry. Perhaps it’s just that it’s difficult making a living on this.

Have you considered handing over the reins to others eg, Sabahtourism? Daily Express?

Also, at least you keep what ever is in here in other places which will always be available eg, wordpress.com.

As for my personal experience: I will blog as long as I can (I’ve been doing it for years, but only recently rather more seriously) and only on topics which interest me so much that covering it does not seem like a burden at all.

  11. Whatever your decision, I think you should keep this information or publish it. For my opinion, you can still continue bloging and do important job as well.

Im proud of you because spend a time and money create this blog and give a very informative blog about Sabah.

I think you should find someone to work together to help you update and put some idea on this blog .

    Regards

  12. Hi SmokeHead. I am pretty sad that you are going to close down your blog.

I haven’t been back to KK for 7 years so I rely on you to keep me up-to-date with whatever happening over there.

I guess it has come to a stage where you have to move to the next chapter of your life. I would like to wish you all the best in your future.

Thank you very much for sharing the Sabah experience with us.

  13. hi smokehead…I’m ur loyal blog reader from day 1…it is sad to see u stop blogging….i understand ur decision…i just hope u will let this blog to stay open or archive it somewhere for future reference…

    Dayakguy

  15. Update in less frequency la bah Smokehead….can consider right?

I don’t know any other site that post ALLLL the unduk ngadaus photos in 3 or more different poses…..

  16. Please dont stop.
I am a sabahan living overseas. I visit this site regularly for updates. You have done a really great job.

  17. HEY!!! don stop blogging!!! i love this site!! AND and can you send me all the photos of the 5th sabah open? the dancing one… i’m one of the dancers there.. in photo “sabah-dance-dsc03158” i’m the guy.. PLEASE!!! I WANT ALL THE PHOTOS!!! i would appriciate it… THANX!!!!

  18. what a pity, i respect ur decision, but its just that, i’m kinda dissapointed coz u might close this blog…..

I am always proud to be Sabahan (eventho i was away for about 10 yrs), coz of our culture and products that we have… i always brag about sabah to my frens and i managed to convince some of them to come to Sabah, so they can feel the way I do about my hometown, and I usually did it by just showing some pictures, brag abt it, and eversince I found your blog, I’ll just send them mysabah.com website and they are soooo damn impress about Sabah, and I dont have to waste my saliva explaining this and that, coz ur blog tells a billion stories and sooo convincing (am not in photography actually)… so, they came and come and keep on coming.. hehe…

so, my point is, like the other said, if its too time consuming for you, then just updat it bi-monthly, we’ll still be happy, its better than nothing at all….. please mate!!

  19. All these pictures showing all the good food of Sabah are really making me feel home sick! Hello to all the lucky Sabahans, enjoy your food guys!
