OK, some of you may have been waiting for this. The photos of Unduk Ngadau Beauty Pageant in Tawau on May 6, 2006. There are 4 reasons I report for Tawau: (1) I want to blog a Unduk Ngadau competition in west coast, (2) to avoid taking same event pictures with other photographers, (3) looking for excuse to go to Tawau, (4) want to marry an Unduk Ngadau. FYI, there are more than 30 districts around Sabah organised their local Unduk Ngadau competition.

The Sabah Tourism Magazine (Page 14, Issue: May 2006, Volume 63) wrote about the meaning of Unduk Ngadau. I post it here for your knowledge:
“The Unduk Ngadau embodies the spirit, beauty and personality of Huminodun who, according to local legend, was the self-sacrificing daughter of the almighty creator Kinoingan. She was sacrified to the land so that her people would not starve. Her head gave rise to coconuts, her flesh nourished the paddy fields, her blood became red rice, her fingers ginger, her teeth maize, her knees yams and other parts provided a variety of edible plants.”

wow great job! siok oh baca blog ko ni, sambil tingu2 tu pic sumandak2 unduk ngadau yg santik2.erkss.. sia mo tanya ko ni smokehead. kaum apa punya costume, yang pakai baju merah/skirt panjang kaler hitam@biru? 1st time sia tingu oh.. hehehehe..sia tingu tu 1st runner up dgn 2nd runner up punya winner, lebih santik dari itu unduk ngadau woh. ermm.. cemana buli jadi gitu tu ahh?
kokou, thank you 4 the kind words. i believe the dress that you mention is the costume of Murut live in interior of east coast, if i am not mistaken.
hehehe…well..i guess it’s not wrong if i share my knowledge to u all..actually the costume that use red clothes and blue skirt is the murut traditional clothes in east coast in the kampung serudung..and the name of clothes is murut serudung clothes…actually the murut serudung clothes is only read and blue colour…the but u see, there is one contestant use read and black colour is wrong…actually it must be read clothes and blue skirt…hehehe

Hello webmaster. I think you could also make more of it through a bigger exposure about “Unduk Ngadau Competition, Tawau”. Perhaps you can have some cocoa planting in malaysia.
wow..i like miss 2006. maybe ratu kali ni x fotogenik but when u meet her, konpom blh melt. lagipun i think judges x tingu cantik or not.. tp tingu dari personaliti, gaya masa berjalan dan bercakap, aksesori n others. so she deserve it.
