Call for Love
Species: Uca crassipes
This fiddler stands in front of its burrow, waving an oversized claw to invite female to inspect his home. The big claw often contrasts in colour with the rest of the body, and is used by the male to attract females in a complicated courtship display procedure, characteristically different in each species of uca. Some species can be identified by the particular form of their mating display.
