The skin of ordinary mangosteen is in purple color, as shown in photo below:<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_6.jpg\" alt=\"mangosteen\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, I only find out recently that there is a type of wild mangosteen only found in Borneo. It&#8217;s called <em>Selabi<\/em> (hope I spell the name right).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_1.jpg\" alt=\"selabi fruit\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAs you can see in photo above, Selabi is in bright yellow color.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_2.jpg\" alt=\"flesh of selabi\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWhen you peel off the skin, you will see orange pulp, instead of the usual white pulp of common mangosteen. Selabi tastes similar to mangosteen but sweeter and less sour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_3.jpg\" alt=\"wild mangosteen tree\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: The wild mangosteen tree.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_4.jpg\" alt=\"wild mangosteen\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120210_5.jpg\" alt=\"wild mangosteen\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDue to deforestation, wild mangosteen is now very rare. <\/p>\n<p>You can see this fruit in <a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\">Sabah Agriculture Park (Taman Pertanian Sabah)<\/a> in Tenom.
