The park has about 20 gardens with different themes, the area is so big that you need to spend a few days to see everything. I had a day trip there last week and I find the following exotic plants are interesting:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_1.jpg\" alt=\"Mickey mouse flower\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_2.jpg\" alt=\"Mickey mouse flower\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: &#8220;Mickey Mouse&#8221; Flower. Do you see the eyes and ears?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_3.jpg\" alt=\"heart shape flower\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: heart shape flower. Valentine&#8217;s Day is around the corner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_4.jpg\" alt=\"giant Amazonian water lily\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: Circular floating leaves of the giant Amazonian water lily (<em>Victoria amazonica<\/em>). It can grow more than 1 Meter in diameter and no problem having a 30-40 Kg child sit on it. Some visitors throw coin on these big leaves. Please don&#8217;t do it, coz it will cause &#8220;sunburn&#8221; to the leaf when the metal coin turns hot by sunlight.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_6.jpg\" alt=\"Dutchman's Pipe\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: Dutchman&#8217;s Pipe from South America<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_5.jpg\" alt=\"Dutchman's Pipe\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: Dutchman&#8217;s Pipe stinks so bad when it fully grows and flies love it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_7.jpg\" alt=\"Pucuk manis\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nPucuk Manis (species name: <em>Sauropus androgynus<\/em>) is a very famous vegetable of Sabah. Local Chinese calls it &#8220;\u6811\u4ed4\u83dc&#8221; (means tree vegetables literally). We always recommend tourists to try it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_8.jpg\" alt=\"shrimp's mouth\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: this flower looks like shrimp&#8217;s mouth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_9.jpg\" alt=\"Mahkota Dewa Fruit\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: Mahkota Dewa from Indonesia, a magical fruit that can cure cancer of early stage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_10.jpg\" alt=\"cotton tree\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: &#8220;cotton tree&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_11.jpg\" alt=\"cotton tree\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_12.jpg\" alt=\"cotton tree seed\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: the seed with &#8220;cotton&#8221; inside.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_13.jpg\" alt=\"decoration tree\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYou should hire a guide with you if you want to sample fruits in the park. Not everything is edible. Like the fruit tree above. This tree is used for decoration and the fruits are not edible, and it&#8217;s quite a pain to clean the dropping fruits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_14.jpg\" alt=\"Burahol \/ kepel\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nBurahol \/ kepel fruit. Eat it and your urine will smell good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_15.jpg\" alt=\"fruit of Burahol \/ kepel\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe fruit of burahol \/ kepel needs to be cooked to yellow color before consumption.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_16.jpg\" alt=\"hoya flower\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: beautiful Hoya flower<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_17.jpg\" alt=\"fruit\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_18.jpg\" alt=\"fruit\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWe sample some ripen fruits. I can&#8217;t recall their names. They all taste sweet with a bit of sour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tenom-park\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2012\/20120209_19.jpg\" alt=\"Ah Bill\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove: &#8220;Ah Bill&#8221; fruit (that&#8217;s how the name sounds like)? The meat is sweet and taste like pudding, nice!<\/p>\n<p>To make the tour more enjoyable and informative, it is highly recommended that you hire a park guide to show you around. You may go in group and pay for the guide service. Even though I think Sabah Agriculture Park is one of the &#8220;must-visit&#8221; parks in Sabah, it is not a popular tourism attraction.
