Birders from all over the world always look for this unique bird of Borneo. It is the sole representative of the family <em>Pityriasis<\/em>. You have a good chance of spotting Bornean Bristlehead from canopy walkway of <a href=\"\/wordpress\/?p=480\">Rainforest Discovery Center<\/a> and <a href=\"\/wordpress\/?p=548\">Danum Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_1.jpg\" alt=\"Brahminy Kite\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_15.jpg\" alt=\"Brahminy Kite\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Brahminy Kite<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in hill area near Kota Kinabalu. In late afternoon, you could see a few of them near KK Wetland Centre.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_2.jpg\" alt=\"Brown Barbet\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Brown Barbet<\/strong><br \/>\nMost Barbet are colorful species and some even call them &#8220;5-color bird&#8221;. But the one I spotted is a boring and plain species. Seen in Tun Fuad Stephens Park of Kota Kinabalu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_3.jpg\" alt=\"Brown-capped Woodpecker\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_4.jpg\" alt=\"Brown-capped Woodpecker\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_14.jpg\" alt=\"Brown-capped Woodpecker\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Brown-capped Woodpecker<\/strong><br \/>\nWoodpecker always amuses me. Brown-capped woodpecker is very common in coastal area. This species is very easy to find in Likas Sport Complex (Kota Kinabalu) in afternoon time, when there is nobody jogging.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_5.jpg\" alt=\"Brown-throated Sunbird\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Brown-throated Sunbird<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in car park garden of Shangrila Tanjung Aru Resort. The second commonest sunbird.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_6.jpg\" alt=\"Brown-wood Owl\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Brown-wood Owl<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in Tawau Hills Park. I was so so so happy to get its shot. The ranger told me that there was always an owl stayed near building light at night, so it could get easy meal, as many beetles gathered at light. At first attempt to photograph it, it saw me and fleed. But came back to same spot after 15 minutes. So I moved very very slowly, and freeze when it looked at me. At last I got its photo.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_18.jpg\" alt=\"Buff-necked Woodpecker\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Buff-necked Woodpecker<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in mangrove of Sepilok Laut.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_7.jpg\" alt=\"Buff-rumped Woodpecker\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Buff-rumped Woodpecker<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in Maliau Basin Studies Centre and <a href=\"\/crocker-range\/\">Crocker Range Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_8.jpg\" alt=\"Buff-vented Bulbul\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Buff-vented Bulbul<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in Poring Hot Spring.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_9.jpg\" alt=\"Buffy Fish Owl\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Buffy Fish Owl<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in night safari in Maliau Basin and Kinabatangan (near to river).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_17.jpg\" alt=\"Bushy-crested Hornbill\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Bushy-crested Hornbill<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in Kinabatangan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_13.jpg\" alt=\"Cattle Egret\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_10.jpg\" alt=\"Cattle Egret\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_16.jpg\" alt=\"Cattle Egret\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Cattle Egret<\/strong><br \/>\nThis egret likes to feed on the parasites on cattle thus getting this name. The feather of its head and neck area will turn yellow during mating period.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_11.jpg\" alt=\"Chestnut Munia\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101224_12.jpg\" alt=\"Chestnut Munia\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>Chestnut Munia<\/strong><br \/>\nVery common in paddy field, a major pest. The farmers hate them very much.
