I was not using a cannon-size 500mm lens, so my bird photos shot with cheap 250mm lens are mostly low-quality and blur. Anyway, this is still a nice guide, because 90% of the Sabah birds normal people see daily are listed here. I organize the list in alphabetic order of their common names. I&#8217;m not an expert birders. Please let me know if there is any mistake.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_1.jpg\" alt=\"Ashy Bulbul\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Ashy Bulbul<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in hill area of Rafflesia Information Center (Tambunan).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_2.jpg\" alt=\"Ashy Tailorbird\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_3.jpg\" alt=\"Ashy Tailorbird\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_4.jpg\" alt=\"Ashy Tailorbird\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Ashy Tailorbird<\/strong><br \/>\nCan be easily seen in coastal garden and mangrove area. Very noisy and active, and fly low in flock. As they are restless and like to hop from branch to branch, this makes them very hard to photograph. Their babies look so much bigger than the parents. As the nest of Ashy Tailorbird is sometimes hosted by cuckoo, these may not be their real babies..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_5.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Black Hornbill\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_14.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Black Hornbill\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Asian Black Hornbill<\/strong> (top: male, below: female)<br \/>\nSpotted in Maliau Basin. You can see it in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_6.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Fairy Bluebird\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Asian Fairy Bluebird<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in hill forest of Tawau Hills Park and Poring. Very shy and hard to get close.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_7.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Glossy Starling\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_15.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Glossy Starling eating fruit\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Asian Glossy Starling<\/strong><br \/>\nThis bird is everywhere. Black shiny body with red eyes. The juvenile has heavy stripes. Your fruits are finished if they come, and they always know to pick the best ones.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_17.jpg\" alt=\"Banded Woodpecker\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Banded Woodpecker<\/strong><br \/>\nThe commonest mid-sized woodpecker of Borneo. This one is spotted in Rainforest Discovery Center (Sandakan City).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_8.jpg\" alt=\"Barn Swallow\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Barn Swallow<\/strong><br \/>\nA winter migratory birs spotted in Tawau Hills Park.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_9.jpg\" alt=\"Black-backed Swamphen\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Black-backed Swamphen<\/strong><br \/>\nA common bird in Likas Lagoon and swampy area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_10.jpg\" alt=\"Black-Naped Monarch\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Black-Naped Monarch<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in forest of Tawau Hills Park and Gaya Island. Very curious bird. Its &#8220;beard&#8221; looks funny.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_11.jpg\" alt=\"Black-Winged Flycatcher\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Black-Winged Flycatcher<\/strong><br \/>\nSpotted in Tun Fuad Stephens Park, Kota Kinabalu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_12.jpg\" alt=\"Black-Winged Stilt\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_13.jpg\" alt=\"Black-Winged Stilt\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Black-Winged Stilt<\/strong> (top: male, below: female)<br \/>\nA migratory bird spotted in Penampang paddy field and Likas Lagoon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2010\/20101222_16.jpg\" alt=\"Blue-banded Pitta\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Blue-banded Pitta<\/strong><br \/>\nPitta is the <strong>Jewel of Borneo<\/strong> due to its rareness and colourful feathers. Blue-banded Pitta is endemic to Borneo and always on the must-see list of birders.
