My Wife is Sick

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Finally my Sony Cybershot is sick, a bit earlier than I expect. For normal use, this little baby would show no sign of problem for few more years. After taking over 30,000 photos for the last 2 years, it is time she protests about the heavy use. When shooting photo with flash this morning, I heard a small explosion “PAAK-!!!” and the bulb inside was broken into tiny pieces. Luckily it didn’t take the whole camera with it. Now she still can function without any flash. It is not my fault. She has low sensitivity (ISO400) and love to fire flash even under good light condition thereby shorten her life span. OK lah, I admit sometimes I forced her to use flash too.

Even though I am not so satisfied with her performance, after all, she had contributed most of the 10,000+ pictures displayed in MySabah.com. I will bury her nicely if she can’t be fixed. The good news is – I had bought an additional 2 years extended warranty during the purchase, so she can enjoy free medical care until year 2008. Tomorrow I will send her for repair. During her sick leave, which could last for month, I would have to count on my stupid Sony Cybershot DSC-S40 camera, that really sucks… It will be a big regret if there is any good stuff to photography in July.

Well, it is probably time to shop for a new wife (DSLR). At the moment I am eyeing on (1) Canon EOS 400D, (2) Nikon D40X, and (3) Sony Alpha A100, which will burn a big hole in my wallet. Anyone of you can tell me where to find the best price? Best if got 0%-interest instalment plan. Or anyone wants to give me one? Haha…

  1. Nikon 40x ~ you’ll love how it handle the colors, also the Flash system, i-TTL. Been using Nikon since I got SLR, nothing much to complain except the HI ISO noise level, which I think you don’t need to worry so much of it, since I noticed you’ll be using flash when the lighting is bad.

    other than that also get:
AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED. For landscape, group shots, little bit of portraits. I have this is my bag, not my fav lens but I do use this lens the most.

    and must get:
AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D . A superb sharp lens with really nice contrast and, cheap. Got mine RM380 in KL. Use this lens for most of my portrait pictures and also in low light condition while flash not allowed. Make sure you buy this lens.

    then maybe:
Tamron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2. 300mm will become 450mm attached to a Nikon body. 450mm WEI !!! Can zoom till the birds nose hair ler ~. Also this lens has a 1:2 reproduction ration on Macro. I use for my events and stage most of the time since it’s the longest lens in my bag. Hardly use the Macro since I’ve got Tamron SP90 for 1:1 Macro. hehehe.

Most of the shop here in KL offer 0% interest Installment plan, provided if you have the right Credit Card. Come KL lah ~ I will bring you around town ~
