The Dragon Boat Race is an annual event held in remembrance of Qu Yuan. Australia, Hong Kong China, Indonesia and Brunei also sent their teams to participate in this competition. The colorful dragon boats and nice sea view in Likas Bay attract thousands of visitors each year. There are six trophies to be won:

1. the Kinabalu Dragon Trophy (Junior Boys under 21 years),
2. SCCA (Sabah Chinese Cultural Association) President Trophy (Mixed),
3. SCCA President Trophy (Men only),
4. Sabah Dragon Trophy (Internaitional / Mixed Team),
5. Sabah Chief Minister Trophy (Men only), and
6. Sabah Head of State Trophy (International / Men only)
