Day 2 in Maliau Basin: Agathis tree in Agathis-to-Ginseng trail. Agathis trees (Damar Minyak) are large conifers growing up to 55 Meters, with possibly 3 species being found in Maliau. Easily recognised by the abundance of resin and distinctive jig-saw patterned bark. It is found in mixed dipterocarp, heath & lower montane forest, sometimes in pure stands or groves.
